Coming off a tough loss in the World Boxing Super Series final against Callum Smith, George Groves has decided to retire.

At only 30 years of age, Groves still had plenty of fight left in him and could have secured some lucrative pay days against the upper echelon at 168 pounds.

But, as Groves mentions in a statement he released on Instagram earlier today, he is “still young, still fit and healthy.”

Knowing when to hang up the gloves, even when it’s clear that you’ve got some gas left in the tank, is the stuff champions are made of and should be commended for.
