Baltimore native, Glenn Dezurn (9-0, 6 KOs), put on a workman-like performance in his unanimous decision victory over Leroy Davila (5-1, 3 KOs) Friday night at the MGM Grand National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

The first televised fight of ShoBox: The New Generation broadcast saw Dezurn come out aggressive in the first round, with a tentative Davila remaining content to show movement and pick his spots.

As both fighters got comfortable, there was a gradual spike in offense from both guys, until the middle rounds when it evolved into a full blown phone booth fight.

Dezurn was beginning to bully the southpaw into a fight that he wanted to avoid, getting pressed on the ropes while being peppered with combinations more frequently, much to Davila’s discomfort.

By the fifth round, Davila tried to show movement again, but was once again forced into the phone booth. In the seventh, Davila came out and landed a nice combination but was eventually walked down and forced to fight Dezurn’s fight as he had much of the bout.

The eighth round was action-packed, with a fiery exchange that saw both men hurt as Dezurn was staggered by a body shot from Davila.

When Davila attempted to press the wounded Dezurn, Dezurn landed a hard left hook that wobbled Davila to the ropes. The exchange continued with the crowd roaring, as both men finished the fight on their feet.

All three judges scored it 78-74 for Glenn Dezurn.
