In the second fight on Friday night’s PBC card in Miami, Oklahoma outside of the Buffalo Run Casino and Resort, Hugo Centeno, Jr. (26-1, 14 KOs) brutally knocked out Immanuwel Aleem (17-1-1, 10 KOs), handing Aleem the first loss of his career.
Centeno Jr. seemed content sniping from the outside and patiently picking his shots, while the rugged Aleem continued to press forward with very little success.
Centeno’s reach presented issues for Aleem, as the shorter fighter struggled to close the distance. Even Aleem’s mouthpiece was knocked out by a strong jab from Centeno Jr., late in the second.
In the third round, Aleem employed rough and tumble tactics landing a huge bomb to Centeno’s head, while simultaneously tying him up. Centeno Jr. kept his focus avoiding many of those big shots and remaining faithful to his jab, frustrating Aleem, until he caught Aleem clean with a crisp check hook.
Aleem never saw the punch–a punch that will be considered for knockout of the year–getting knocked unconscious momentarily, but left the ring on his feet.
