On the undercard of Adrien Broner vs. Mikey Garcia on Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller improved to 19-0-1 17 KOs by wearing down Gerald Washington (18-2-1, 12 KOs) in a dominant victory.

The Brooklyn native Miller, fighting for the first time in 11 months, showed little ring rust, but did look fatigued come the mid rounds. Miller, who came in at 298 ½ lbs., did what he had to do when it was all said and done.

Other than the first round, which seemed everybody had Washington taking, it was all Big Baby as he stalked Washington with patience and volume punches.

Constantly walking Washington down, Miller showed his above-average hand speed for a heavyweight, while Washington had not much of a game plan and was on the ropes for the majority of the fight.

Both fighters seemed to be sucking air after the mid-rounds, but it was Miller in the end looking in better condition than the former USC football player. It came down to a matter of time whether referee Gary Rosato or Washington’s corner would stop it.

It was Washington’s corner that ended up stopping the fight, having seen enough and called it after Round 7.

Showtime analyst and newly inducted IBHOF Hall-of-Famer, Steve Farhood said this win now makes Miller a contender in the intriguing Heavyweight division.

Here’s hoping it’s not another 11 months before we see Big Baby in the ring again.
