Jermell Charlo (25-0, 11 KOs) defeated Mario Lozano (28-6, 9 KOs) in a schedule 10-round bout live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV.

The bout–presented by Golden Boy Promotions–aired on Showtime Extreme as a lead in bout to the quadruple header on Showtime Championship Boxing.

Charlo, 24, of Richmond, Texas, was extremely disappointed going into this fight as he was previously scheduled to have his first title shot against Demetrius Andrade for Andrade’s WBO Light Middleweight title.

Andrade, believing he deserved more money than was offered, pulled out of the fight, according to an ESPN article.

Nevertheless, Charlo remained undefeated as he landed powerful jabs in each round that he followed with right hands and left hooks on the overmatched Lozano.

All judges scored the bout 100-90.

Errol Spence Jr. (14-0, 11 KOs) stopped Javier Castro (27-7, 22 KOs) in the fifth round of a scheduled eight-round Light Middleweight weight.

Spence Jr., 24, of Desoto, Texas, landed nearly every punch he threw as he easily walked Castro down in each round.

Castro was too tough for his own good as neither his corner or he showed any signs of stopping the fight despite the vicious beating. Referee Robert Byrd finally stopped the fight in Round 5.

Spence is considered to be the most promising prospect of the 2012 USA Olympic team and is clearly ready for a step up in competition.
