If boxing is dead, someone forgot to tell Hollywood.

In yet another boxing biopic planned for the big screen, actor Jerry Ferrara will play the beloved and late-great Arturo Gatti.

According to Variety, former New York Giant’s football star and current talk-show host, Michael Strahan is producing the biopic with Mark Wahlberg executive producing the film.

Pat Lynch, who managed Gatti, will also be involved in the production of the film and had the following to say:

I’m extremely excited to be able to tell Arturo’s true life story. He was more than just my fighter, he was so much a big part of my family.

Wahlberg’s involvement in the film is really exicting, given the fact that he is a knowledgeable boxing fan and he played Micky Ward in the Oscar winning film, The Fighter.

Along with Ward, Gatti treated boxing fans to one of the most legendary trilogies in boxing history.

Fans seem to be split on Ferrara being chosen as the actor to play Gatti, tweeting their thoughts since the news broke.
