Jessie Magdaleno (20-0, 15 KOs) scored an eight-round unanimous decision win over Erik Ruiz (13-2, 6 KOs) to win the NABF Super Bantamweight title at the Texas Station Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Magdaleno’s win was the headline eight-round bout of a card promoted by Top Rank Promotions and which was televised on UniMas in the U.S.
Magdaleno, 23, of Las Vegas, easily used his jab and footwork to keep Ruiz from landing significant punches.
Ruiz was a bit tentative in the earlier rounds, but began to throw a bit more in Rounds 5 and 6.
Nevertheless, for Ruiz, 23, of Oxnard, California, the effort came too little to late as Magdaleno had already found his rhythm.
Magdaleno continued outboxing Ruiz into the eighth and final round. All judges scored the bout 80-72 for Magdaleno
In the co-main event Vic Pasillas (8-0, 3 KOs) scored a six-round unanimous decision win over Karl Garcia (4-3, 1 KO). The judges scored the fight 60-54, 60-54, and 59-53 for Pasillas.
