J’Leon Love (17-0, 1 NC, 10 KOs) scored a technical knockout victory over Vladine Biosse in the tenth round of a Super Middleweight fight. The fight was part of a card presented by Mayweather Promotions and Showtime Sports.

Love grew comfortable very early in the fight, boxing from a shoulder roll stance to hand lead rights to Biosse’s chin, along with several hard shots to the body.

Biosse, who was a football player before switching to boxing, came in headfirst and was the victim of several uppercuts throughout the fight. They, along with other punches, eventually left him a bloody mess by the time the fight was stopped.

Biosse contested the decision, clearly wanting to walk away without having been stopped via knockout. Nevertheless, he did not win a single round and was outgunned from the very beginning.

In the co-main event, Dereck Edwards (27-3-1,14 KOs) scored a stunning upset victory over Badou Jack (16-1, 11 KOs) in the first round of a scheduled ten-round Super Middleweight bout.

Jack made fatal mistakes early with a shorter fighters, stepping in too closely with his jab while not bringing it back to place quickly. After one minute in which Edwards was able to perfectly time the jab, Jack was dropped by a thundering overhand right that he stepped into after missing his jab.

Jack tried to continue, smiling at Edwards as if to say “I’m Okay, it was just a flash knockdown,” or perhaps it was a smile of disbelief at the upset loss that lay before him.

Jack was once again dropped after an eight-count and the fight was soon stopped by the referee. Jack’s career takes a huge step back as Edwards makes a surprise step forward.

In the first televised fight, Chris Pearson (11-0, 9 KOs) won a controversial ten-round split decision over Lanardo Tyler (31-9-2, 20 KOs).

Pearson began the fight using his considerable height and reach advantage, landing shots from distance and through Tyler’s peak-a-boo offense.

However, Pearson’s questionable conditioning was made clear as he was unable to continue the pace into the middle rounds. Tyler never seemed to respect Pearson’s power, and so was able to try to walk Pearson down for most of the fight, knocking him down in the sixth round.

Tyler looked better as the rounds progressed, but nonetheless was too behind on all of the judges scorecards.

The judges scored the bout 78-73,78-73,76-75, but Tyler may have deserved a better score despite his loss.
