On October 10, 2015, Jorge Linares scored a fourth-round knockout victory over Ivan Cano to successfully defend his WBC Lightweight title at the Poliedro in Caracas, Venezuela.
The scheduled 12-rounder was a homecoming event that was streamed via ESPN3.com in the U.S.
After thoroughly outboxing Cano for several rounds, including a knockdown in Round 3, Linares landed a powerful left hook to the body in Round 4.
As Linares was approaching for the kill, Cano had to take a knee to to deal with the pain, and was unable to make the 10-count.
