Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. recently spoke with Yahoo Deportes about his desire to fight at 160 or 168 lbs. Chavez Jr. mentioned a few fighters he would like to face including Sergio Martinez.

I would like to fight with [Sakio] Bika because he’s the [WBC] Super Middleweight champ, but we’re going to wait and see what happens. It all depends on what offers I get and who they tell me to fight, either at 160 or 168 lbs.

Although Chavez Jr. is not known for being a gym rat, the picture above has shocked boxing fans because the young Mexican fighter is so fat. It seems as though Chavez Jr. is ready to move up in weight, even suggesting he would rather face Golovkin at 168 lbs.

I think that if Golovkin wanted to fight me at 168 lbs, I’m the only one who can knock him out right now, there’s nobody else who can beat him…I can also fight [Golovkin] at middleweight, but it would be better at a weight in between or for the championship at 168 lbs. because if I go into the ring strong and don’t have to battle with weight, I can knock him out.

Although it would be a big fight with a large sum of money, Golovkin would be wise to continue and fight at 160 lbs and look to face the dangerous, but aging Middleweight king, Sergio Martinez.

And speaking of Martinez, according to Chavez Jr., the Argentine is not the best at 160 lbs.  “Golovkin and [Daniel] Geale are the best at 160 pounds, Sergio Martinez is out”.

Though Chavez Jr. doesn’t consider Martinez the top dog, he still would like a second go. Chavez Jr. told Yahoo Deportes that Martinez will have no choice but to give him a rematch.
