Julius Jackson (19-0, 15 KOs) scored a ninth-round TKO victory over Johnathan Nelson (19-2, 9 KOs) at the Little Creek Casino Resort in Shelton Washington.

The scheduled 10-round Super Middleweight fight began a televised card on Showtime Extreme that was promoted by Goossen Tutor Promotions.

Jackson, 27, who is the son of former Middleweight champion Julian Jackson, scored a knockdown in the first round after a short left hook opened Nelson up for a right hand that wobbled and floored him.

Jackson, taking a page from his father’s book, boxed the rest of the fight with his right hand in mind, confidently walking Nelson down in each round in order to land it.

Nelson, 28, of Little Rock, Arkansas, was outgunned early and never gained the confidence needed to take advantage of Jackson’s habit of dropping his hands before and after combinations.

In the sixth round, Nelson finally began to land counter right hands, one of which backed Jackson up but did not seem to hurt him.

Jackson regained control of the fight and eventually stopped Nelson with another right hand in Round 9 that severely wobbled him.

The right hand hand didn’t drop Nelson, but it was definitely enough for referee Jack Reiss to stop the fight, earning Jackson, a native of the U.S. Virgin Islands, a TKO victory in his Showtime debut.
