San Francisco (November 10, 2014) – This past Saturday, Karim “Hard Hitta” Mayfield (19-2-1, 11 KOs) impressed his hometown fans with a dominating 8-round unanimous decision against Michael Balasi (10-6, 7 KOs) of Honolulu, HI, as he got back in the win column. OPP Boxing and Mo’Betta Entertainment were the promoters.

In front of a sold out crowd at the Longshoreman Hall, Mayfield was able to land a plethora power shots against a game Balasi. The Hawaiian born Balasi was able to withstand the hard shots Mayfield was landing early in the fight, but was almost stopped in the eighth round when Karim landed a nice combination that had him wobbled. Balasi toughed it out and made it to the final bell. Scorecards read 79-73 and 80-72 twice.

“Balasi is a very tough fighter and I give him props for being so durable.” said Mayfield. “I hit him with a lot of hard shots and he stood his ground. I’m ready to my career to the next level. After losing a couple of fights, I went back to the drawing board and got a better understanding of what I need to do moving forward. I wanted to come out tonight and dominate and that’s what I did. I’m ready to fight any of the top fighters at 140 lbs. I have no problem working my way back up the rankings.”
