Junior Welterweight titleholder Lamont Peterson (31-2-1, 16 KOs) will face his mandatory challenger, Dierry Jean (25-0, 17 KOs) in 2014.
Golden Boy Promotions–Peterson’s promotional company–won a purse bid for the bout and according to Dan Rafael of ESPN.com they have 90 days to put on the fight.
Golden Boy Chief Executive, Richard Schaefer told ESPN.com that although the date and location have not been finalized, the fight may land in Brooklyn, NY at the Barclays Center or in Washington, D.C.–Peterson’s hometown.
Peterson is coming off of a lopsided knockout loss at the hands of Lucas Matthysse.
