Well, it looks like Vasyl Lomachenko and Nicolas Walters are one step closer to a fight as the 28-year-old Ukrainian officially announced on Twitter earlier today.

“It’s official! Vasyl Lomachenko vs Nicholas Walters! April 2016,” announced Lomachenko.

Although we now have a verbal agreement, there is much to be done before the two actually step into the ring. It remains to be seen if Walters, a 30-year-old native of Jamaica, can still make the 126-pound Featherweight limit.

Also, according to ESPN’s Dan Rafael, Arum plans to have both Lomachenko and WBC Super Lightweight champion Viktor Postol on the same card, but HBO does not seem to be too interested.

Rafael writes that Arum is talking to Showtime’s Stephen Espinoza, though Arum has been critical of both him and Showtime. It seems that because HBO showed a lack of interest with his proposed double-header, Arum decided to take his business elsewhere.

It remains to be seen, however, if they’ll actually do business together.

So, though we are a step closer, there is still a lot to be done, but it’s at least clear that both men are ready and willing to fight.
