Linares will defend his Lightweight world title against Lomachenko, who many in the boxing public consider the pound-for-pound king.
The Ukrainian Lomachenko is currently the WBO Junior Lightweight champion, and will be seeking to win his third title in as many divisions. There were a lot of rumblings and back and forth between both promotions in Golden Boy and Top Rank as if the fight would ever be made.
The event will be shown at 8:00 ET on ESPN, not to conflict with a Golden Boy card later that evening starting at 10:00 ET on HBO.
With Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin 2 taking place the week before on May 5, boxing continues to push for a strong 2018 with momentum carrying over from 2017.
