Press Release
When Luis Collazo steps out in front of a sold out MGM Grand in Las Vegas next month, he’ll be doing so in style, wearing LUTA to show his support of our brand and partnership with Fight for Peace.
Luis trains out of Starrett City boxing gym in Brooklyn New York, a gym participating in the Life Changing Project; a LUTA initiative that provides the youth of New York with opportunities to escape the crime and violence that inflicts the poorer neighbourhoods.
‘There is so much going on in the world right now and for the people at LUTA to be supporting a cause like Fight for Peace is such a great thing and I’m really proud to be there with them.’
Luis will be facing a tough challenger in Amir Khan on May 3rd, who’s stepping up in weight to take on the Brooklyn born welterweight. The stakes are high too, with the victor likely to be in line for a shot at Floyd Mayweather (assuming he successfully defends his crown against Marcos Maidana on the same bill). However, Luis is a champion with more than his fair share of overcoming life’s challenges, as he recalls:
‘Boxing saved my life from the street and getting into trouble. The gym teaches you to sacrafice and do something positive.’
From inspiring the young people of New York to challenging for world titles, Luis is a champion both inside and outside of the ring. When he fights on May 3rd he will not only be wearing LUTA, but also embodying the spirit of LUTA: to fight, to struggle, to never give up.
