Nothing says “I can’t take constructive criticism” like trying to get an announcer fired from their commentating gig.
Especially when that commentator is highly-respected former champion, Paulie Malignaggi.
That’s what seems to be going down with Deontay Wilder and Malignaggi.
Now, it’s fair to say that Malignaggi’s brand of commentating and outspokenness is not for everyone.
He’s super opinionated and does not jerk off the powers that be, but in this writer’s opinion his analysis is spot on and hearing his breakdowns are a breath of fresh air.
Malignaggi recently joined the AK and Barak Show on Sirius XM and dropped some information about Wilder and his apparent issues with taking criticism.
“He tried to get me fired from Showtime and all this other stuff. You know? He was trying to have me and Farhood removed and all this other stuff,” said Wilder. “So, I have sort of an issue with that, because I don’t have an issue with you being competitive and you even not liking the criticism. I don’t have an issue with that, because you are not supposed to accept that that easily. But when it’s constructive, you also have to, when you calm down, because in the moment of course you’re not calm. But when you calm down, you have to be able to understand the difference between constructive criticism and hating criticism. You know? And so, you have to be able to take the constructive criticism and build yourself and get better.”
When we posted this particular graphic on Instagram, the comment section went crazy, with most people agreeing that Wilder is a sore loser.
But, there are those that believe that Malignaggi is just a hater towards certain fighters (Canelo Alvarez and Manny Pacquiao being two) and that his criticism of Wilder was not constructive.
Where do you stand in terms of Malinaggi’s commentating abilities and what do you make of his claim that Wilder tried to get him and Steve Farhood canned?
