Very few people had heard of Nathaniel “No Problem” Gallimore (19-1-1, 16 KOs) before tonight, but he undoubtedly turned some heads with tonight’s victory.
He met up and coming Junior Middleweight title contender Justin DeLoach (17-2, 9 KOs) on the undercard of Victor Ortiz vs. Saul Corral in Bakersfield, California.
The fight between Gallimore and DeLoach actually began days before the two met in the ring. Gallimore called out DeLoach on Twitter and was awarded with a chance to fight, though he was given only a week’s notice.
Given the buzz around DeLoach and the short amount of time Gallimore had to prepare, the public saw this as nothing but a tune-up fight for Deloach.
The public was quickly proved wrong when No Problem scored two knockdowns in the first two rounds.
DeLoach couldn’t handle Gallimore’s power and, after literally falling off his chair in the corner after Round 5, the doctor called the bout, awarding Gallimore the upset victory.
This fight could very possibly have made Gallimore’s career, as he will most likely be given more attention and bigger fights, possibly leading to a title bout against one of the 154-pound title holders.
