Los Angeles fan favorite Nick Arce (4-0, 4 KOs) is set to face Juan Hernandez (3-0) today in a Super Featherweight fight at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

The scheduled six-rounder will be on the undercard of the Super Lightweight title fight between Lucas Matthysse and Viktor Postol, and will be streamed on the internet on RingTVLive.com

Arce is slowly making his name as a ticket-selling power puncher in the Featherweight division. The 19-year-old says he and his team are focused on his career, and that they are slowly developing him into a dominant fighter.

Arce, who fights out of the Westside Boxing Club in Los Angeles, California, says that added strength training, along with his boxing workout, has made him feel stronger.

“Training camp has been going well. We’ve been working hard and eating right. Eating right is an important part too,” said Arce, who also noted that making weight has been much easier since he has been fighting consistently and eating right.

“Also, the strength training has been awesome. I feel a lot stronger. I feel like my punches are coming with a lot more power, but I still have to focus on working and on my game plan,” said Arce.

If one could describe his style, it would probably be that of a boxer-puncher. Arce likes to use his long reach behind a long jab, but doesn’t mind letting go of left hooks to the body and powerful right hands to the chin.

The strength training, Arce says, will help him improve his boxing and punching abilities.

Arce will fight on the biggest stage of his career, but he isn’t too worried about it.

In fact, he is using the motivation inspired by his mother to say focused on the task ahead of him.

“My mother motivates me because she came from nothing. She worked hard to get where she’s at, and I’m working hard to get where I want to be,” said Arce.

With the guidance of his trainer and managers, the Saucedo Brothers, Arce has managed to use this motivation to sell lots of tickets and to score knockouts in each of his first four fights.

“I want to show the skills that got me to the position I’m in,” said Arce, who doesn’t always look for the knockout, but will always take it if it’s there.

This is part of his game plan: to stay smart, keep boxing, and let opportunities happen.

It also means staying focused and ignoring the grandiosity of the event itself.

“I don’t really focus on the big event that’s happening. I just focus on what I have to do on October 3,” Arce concluded.
