On Saturday, December 12, 2014, Featherweight prospect Oscar Valdez (17-0, 15 KOs) scored an explosive third-round knockout against Ernie Sanchez (15-6-1, 6 Kos) at the Convention Center in Tucson, Arizona.

The scheduled 10-round Super Featherweight fight was televised on UniMas.

Valdez, of Nogales, Mexico started off with a bang in his usual way, and landed hard shots against the 23-year-old native of General Santos City, Philippines.

In Round 3, Valdez timed and ducked a one-two combination and he countered with a left hook, immediately dropping Sanchez.

Had Sanchez had some pop, it might have dropped Valdez because they landed at the exact same time.

Instead, Sanchez hit the canvas hard, and the referee immediately stopped he fight.

In the co-main event Jose Benavidez (23-0, 16 KOs) scored a less-than-stellar decision win against Sidney Siqueira (26-10-1, 17 KOs).

Benavidez weighed in an astounding 5 pounds above the weight limit, but was sharp enough to land solid shots against Siqueira.

Benavidez scored a knockdown, but it was ruled as slip.

The juddges scored the fight 99-91, 100-90 and 100-90.
