Showtime to Re-air Knockout Kings II

This past Saturday’s Knockout Kings II fight card was a huge success and certainly lived up to its lofty billing. Showtime announced on Monday that they will air the program twice more this week, once on Tuesday and once on Wednesday. If you didn’t see it the first time–or if you love boxing like us–don’t miss the replay!

Pacquiao Feeling Pressure

According to Manny Pacquiao, he is feeling “a little pressure” regarding his upcoming bout with Brandon Rios. The fight promotions kicked off this past weekend in Macau, where the fight will also be held. Pacquiao also said that he believes an impressive win over Rios will raise his name in boxing once again.

Gary Russell Jr. Back in Action

Perennial “prospect of the year”, Gary Russell Jr. will return against Juan Ruiz on August 9 at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. The bout will be on the same card as Deontay Wilder vs. Sergei Liakhovich. In a recent interview with Boxing Socialist, Russell stated that he wanted something challenging, but not too overwhelming in his first bout back since injuring his hand. Russell Jr. also stated that a propsed fight with Daniel Ponce De Leon was never officially offered to him or his team.

Ward’s Dominance is a Problem

Andre Ward is tentatively scheduled to return on September 28, but according to ESPN‘s Dan Rafael, HBO and Ward are at odds regarding who the opponent will be. Rafael states that one of Ward’s biggest problem’s is that he’s already cleaned out the Super Middleweight division, which leaves paper champs Dimitri Sartison and Stanyslav Kastanov as next in line. Perhaps Ward should consider a jump to 175 pounds?

GGG Staying Active

After his win in June over Matthew Macklin, Gennady Golovkin expressed the desire to fight two more times in 2013. According to K2 promoter Tom Loeffler, Golovkin might land on HBO on November 2 against Curtis Stevens.

 

Turn Back the Clock Night

According to World Boxing News, ex-Heavyweight champion of the world, Riddick “Big Daddy” Bowe will return to the boxing ring on August 3.

Bowe fought in his first Muay Thai bout earlier this year, but was like a fish out of water. He now returns to boxing in an exhibition bout versus Mark Potter which will be held in England.

Tony Thompson Next Fight is Set

Kalle Sauerland confirmed that Tony Thompson and Kubrat Pulev will fight in IBF elimibator for the right to face Wladimir Klitschko or Alexander Povetkin.
