Robinson Castellanos (21-10, 13 KOs) scored a bloody 12-round unanimous decision over veteran Rocky Juarez (30-11-1, 11 KOs) to win the WBC Silver Featherweight title at the Cowboys Dance Hall in San Antonio, Texas.
The 12-round fight, which was televised by Fox Sports 1 in the U.S., was the main event of a card promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and Leijah Battah Promotions
The winner earned a shot at WBC Featherweight champion Johnny Gonzalez
Castellanos, 32, of Celaya, Mexico, boxed with Juarez early as both looked for opportunities to exchange.
Juarez, 32, of Houston, Texas, had his moments throughout the fight, but had a lot of trouble with Castellanos’ height and took several uppercuts as he tried to close the distance.
As the rounds progressed Castellanos grew more and more dominant, especially in Round 12 when he scored two knockdowns on Juarez.
After the fight, Juarez announced his retirement from the sport.
Tremendous support for @rockyjuarezbox as he announces his retirement from boxing! Rocky! Rocky! https://t.co/xPfHICzf6p

Also on the card was Javier Rodriguez (12-0-1, 2 KOs), who knocked out Quincy Wesby (2-8) in the fifth round of a scheduled six-round Super Bantamweight fight.
Rodriguez, a full time student a local university, didn’t seem to have the power early to stop Wesby, who used a shoulder roll defense to deflect most of Rodriguez’s punches.
Nevertheless, as the rounds progressed, Rodriguez increasingly found a home for left hooks and right hands and eventually stopped the fight with a powerful left hook in Round 5.
In the first televised bout, Keandre Gibson (11-0-1, 5 KOs) unleashed short punches from close range in nearly every round en route to a unanimous decision win over Nelson Lara (15-6-4, 8 KOs).
Lara was game in every round and exchanged several times, but Gibson was too talented and strong for Lara to capitalize on Gibson’s defensive mistakes.
