Ruslan Provodnikov (23-3, 16 KOs) attended “Mexican Style” on Saturday, October 18, 2014 and made the rounds, signing autographs for fans and speaking with media regarding his future.
On Sunday, Provodnikov posted a video on his Instagram page which shows him calling out none other than Argentinian bad ass, Lucas Matthysse (36-3, 34 KOs).
Personally, this is a matchup I have been salivating over for quite some time–most recently on Sports Rant Radio’s podcast.
As of last Friday, October 10, it was being reported that Provodnikov was still in search of an opponent for a fight in Russia on Friday, November 28, 2014 (per RingTV.com).
According to the same report, the leading candidates to face the “Siberian Rocky” were Julio Diaz and AARP member, Jose Luis Castillo–yes THAT same Jose Luis Castillo.
Either of those opponents would be tune ups and perhaps a mega bout with Matthysse could kick off 2015.
In the video posted on Instagram, Provodnikov states that he is waiting to hear back from Matthysse’s camp regarding the challenge. It’ll be interesting to hear what “The Machine” has to say in return, considering the fact that he is usually the one calling out opponents.
Both men are known for their relentless offensive aggression and if they were to get together in the ring it would be like two trains colliding.
If Provodnikov and Matthysse face each other, who would you give the edge to?
