Everyone has been busy hyping up a potential fight between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta “Tank” Davis–including the fighters themselves–but it doesn’t seem like Golden Boy Promotions is necessarily set on making that fight.
On Tuesday, January 19, 2021, Garcia joined the Jalen and Jacoby show on ESPN to discuss his future prospects, including a potential fight with Tank Davis.
But, instead of the normal quotable we’ve been hearing from Garcia as of late, which is, “I’ll knock him out in two rounds,” Garcia teased a bigger fight. One that would make him put the idea of fighting Tank to the side.
Because Garcia has said on more than one occasion that Manny Pacquiao would be his dream fight, people are guessing that a potential clash with the legendary Filipino and current 147-pound WBA champion might be next for King Ry.
Jacoby even tried to coax Garcia into sharing who this mystery fighter is by jokingly asking, “does it rhyme with Shmanny Shmacquiao?”
For those starving to see Garcia in the ring against Davis, the young Golden Boy star said that only a bigger opportunity would derail that clash.
Garcia also stated that even if Tank is not next, he still wants to fight the Mayweather Promotions star in the future.
