On Friday, December 19, 2014, WBC and lineal Light Heavyweight Champion, Adonis Stevenson (24-1, 20 KOs) takes on Russian contender, Dmitry Sukhotsky (22-2, 16 KOs).
The 12-round bout will take place at the Colisee de Quebec in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada and air live on Showtime, starting at 9:00 pm, EST.
Stevenson has taken heat from fans–and Dan Rafael–since signing with Al Haymon because the move was largely seen as an escape route so as not to have to face Sergey Kovalev.
Sukhotsky is relatively unknown, but can arrive in a major way with a win over the legitimate Light Heavyweight Champion, Stevenson.
One thing is for certain, Stevenson cannot afford to have a poor showing and by the sounds of it–“I’m going to win by knockout” (via ESPN.com)–we may see Superman try to put on a spectacular show.
