The Friday, May 29 edition of Premier Boxing Champions on Spike features Amir Khan (30-3, 19 KOs)and Chris Algieri (20-1, 8 KOs) squaring off in a 12-round welterweight battle.

The event is promoted by DiBella Entertainment and Star Boxing with live coverage beginning on Spike at 9:00 pm, EST/6:00 pm, PST.

Though he may not openly admit it, Khan is looking to put on an impressive performance against Algieri in order to secure a date with pound-for-pound king, Floyd Mayweather in September.

While many may not see Algieri as a major threat to Khan, there is a lot of pressure on the Bolton fighter to look good and warrant the matchup with Mayweather.

Algieri is looking to bounce back after losing his first professional boxing match in dominant fashion to Manny Pacquiao in late 2014.

Algieri, who was knocked down six times in the fight against Pacquiao, has stated that he plans to go on the offensive against Khan and prove that he belongs at the elite level.
