Sadam Ali deserves a lot of credit for taking this fight. He a good, solid fighter. I don’t think many want any part of Luis Carlo Abregu.

But, styles make fights and I like Abregu by KO. He’ll prove to be too much for Ali.

Prediction: Abregu

Luis Carlos Abregu is a solid test for Sadam Ali to prove he is ready to take a step up in competition.

Ali definitely has the talent, but ever since that first-round knockdown suffered against “Smokin” Jay Krupp (trained by Kevin Rooney–Krupp’s style has Cus D’amato written all over it), I question Ali’s beard and his sometimes over-aggressive attack that results in recklessness.

Ali will definitely need to be sharp, alert and patient against the seasoned Abregu. Ali will definitely need to stay behind his jab and set up his offense off of it.

Abregu is Argentinian, which means stylistically he will be aggressive, slightly unorthodox and is a puncher; as six of Abregu’s last seven fights have ended early.

I want Ali to succeed here, because I think the American born Yemen has an exciting style and the potential to reach a higher echelon in the sport. However, I think Abregu’s experience and power may prove too much for the talented prospect. Abregu by KO in 7.

Prediction: Abregu

I’m going with experience over undefeated status with the Luis Carlos Abregu vs. Sadam Ali fight.

Abregu only has one loss on his record, and that makes me feel pretty good when it comes to betting on him.

The fact that so many top notch welterweights turned him down for a fight speaks well towards his unofficial win too.

Prediction: Abregu

This is a fun fight to start the telecast with. Both guys can bang and at the end of the day it may come down to who can handle the heat better.

I think Sadam Ali, while exciting and powerful, has shown some pretty serious defensive flaws against lesser competition. Luis Carlos Abregu is a serious contender with a big KO percentage (like most Argentine fighters) and he stands more to lose in this fight.

I think that if Abregu comes in prepared and is ready to bring the fight to Ali, he may be able to break the young man down and get a mid rounds stoppage.

Prediction: Abregu
