George Groves vs. Chris Eubank Jr.

Chris Eubank jr. George Groves

This match-up may steal the show this weekend and should provide compelling action at the very least. George Groves is a very good fighter who has been in against Glenn Johnson, Carl Froch (twice), Badou Jack, Martin Murray and James DeGale, opposition that has provided him valuable experience.

This will represent a step up in class for Eubank who has proven himself a solid, top super middleweight and a victory this weekend at Manchester Arena in the UK will garner him both a signature win and the WBA strap.

Eubanks’ star is on the rise and with both competitors hailing from the UK that atmosphere at the area should provide enough energy on which they will both feed. Expect an evenly pitched battle with changes in momentum and tempo for the first seven rounds.

From there Eubank will start to bank some very close rounds to secure a close decision victory.

Prediction: Eubank Jr.

I’m expecting a great, entertaining and well-fought battle that can go either way.

I’ll take Chris Eubank Jr. in hopes that his showmanship translates into some real stardom–in the UK and maybe in the U.S. at some point.

Prediction: Eubank Jr.

In a bout that British boxing fans have been salivating for since it was announced, George Groves and Chris Eubank Jr. look to deliver in front of a capacity crowd in Manchester on Saturday evening.

The semi-final of the very successful World Boxing Super Series has created a British rivalry for the masses. I’ve been going back and forth since the fight was announced, but I’m going with the greener Eubank in a very tight contest.

I believe Groves will have his moments early, but Eubank will have more left in the tank in the later rounds and that will be the difference.

Prediction: Eubank Jr.

Alex Burgos, Editor-in-Chief

This should be a fun fight–one where Chris Eubank Jr. will have to pace himself and not get overly excited as he seeks to land a spot in the World Boxing Super Series final.

I think George Groves is good, but at this point in his career he’s a little shop worn. I foresee a competitive bout early on, but Eubank Jr. will put effective combinations together later on in the fight and score a late stoppage.

Prediction: Eubank Jr.
