This really isn’t the type of fight we were hoping Terence Crawford would be in. Hopefully, it’s a stepping stone to a spring date with Manny Pacquiao. If not, Viktor Postol would be a nice consolation prize. The way this sport is going, I doubt either fight gets done. But I’m cranky. No time for optimism.

Anyway, this fight does nothing for me. Dierry Jean is a decent enough fighter, and he gave Lamont Peterson an okay fight before wilting in the second half early last year. Crawford appears to be on an entirely different level, reserved only for the best in the sport. He should win with ease, in front of a raucous hometown crowd and a severely intoxicated Ron Stander.

Prediction: Crawford

Terence Crawford (26-0, 18 KOs) appears to be a bonafide superstar in the making and is set to showcase his substantial skill set against once beaten Haitian, Dierry Jean (29-1, 20 KOs).

Jean is a solid fighter but will find this opportunity to step up outside of his ability at this point. Crawford is younger, taller, naturally larger, stronger, coming off a world title victory and spurred on in front of his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska.

That’s not to say that Jean will be completely blown out of the ring, but expect a stellar showing by newly minted WBO Super Lightweight champion Terence Crawford by stoppage in the mid rounds.

Terence Crawford is a skilled boxer in every area. I am very excited to see what Crawford can continue to do with his vast skill set as he unifies the belts within the division.

Dierry Jean is a decent fighter from Canada and he seems like a very durable fighter. He has only fought one large named American fighter in Lamont Peterson. He was able to go the distance with Peterson and lost by unanimous decision.

I think Jean will be able to withstand the KO power Crawford has, but I cannot see him winning this fight or having much success. Crawford is just too well rounded of a boxer in every sense. Crawford by unanimous decisions.

Terence Crawford and his team are the hardest working team in boxing. When you usually see the fighter shadow boxing in the middle, you see all the coaches on the side watching. When you watch the Crawford team, you see a couple coaches running drills on the ladder and you see another coach on the treadmill.

During an entire workout, no one stops moving. Crawford himself goes from one workout into another–never stopping, never taking a break. This is why I’m a huge fan of “Bud” and don’t see Dierry Jean to be the one to take the WBO world title away.

Crawford is versatile and his timing is key. Just when you think he’s losing a few rounds, he’s just giving the mental edge before he takes you out. My pick is Crawford TKO in the seventh.

Terence Crawford is one of the best talents in boxing and he will stop Dierry Jean midway through this fight. Hopefully we get to see Ron Stander in the front row shadowboxing like hell.

Hopefully this fight sets Crawford up for Manny Pacquiao, which is likely given the fact that Bob Arum has called it the “passing of the torch” fight that he’d like to setup next. I think Crawford wins that fight, but we’ll leave that for another day.
