Wladimir Klitschko vs. Alex Leapai
Gabe Polanco, Staff Writer
Zzzzzzz… Oh sorry, I was just reminiscing on Wladimir Klitschko’s last fight. All jokes aside, boring style or not, Wlad has been dominant at the Heavyweight level regardless of opposition. Without the great Emmanuel Steward in his corner, Wlad has seemed to become less aggressive with current trainer Johnathan Banks not fueling the fire under his fighter as his predecessor once did. Nonetheless, as Alex Lepai has been proven to be knocked out, I don’t see him lasting the whole 12 rounds with Klitschko’s hard jab shooting in his face all night.
Prediction: Klitschko

Dr. Steel Hammer aka Wladimir Klitschko, the long time Heavyweight king will plod along with punishing jab after punishing jab into a KO victory against some miscellaneous opponent no one really has heard of. The most interesting tidbit in this fight is that it will be broadcast on ESPN at 5 pm, EST. Is there a trend now of ESPN buying big name fights? They will also be broadcasting Chris Arreola vs. Bermane Stiverne May 10 from USC. Is this setting up a Klitschko vs. Stiverne/Arreola fight on the four letter network? That’s the only reason I have any interest in this fight. Winner? The fans, for getting a live boxing match on non-premium cable featuring one of the greatest Heavyweights of all time.
Prediction: Klitschko

Wladimir Klitschko will continue his lackluster dominance against WBO No. 1 ranked opponent, Alex Leapai. If Leapai is plodding and in range of the legendary Klitschko jab, this one will end early. For boxing’s sake, I hope it entertains enough for ESPN to consider buying more fights.
Prediction: Klitschko
