On Saturday December 12, 2015, Sullivan Barrera scored a fifth-round knockout victory against Karo Murat at the Civic Auditorium in Glendale, California.
The scheduled 12-rounder was part of a card that was televised on HBO Latino in the U.S.
Barrera, 33, began aggressively using as stiff jab and controlled the ring in the early rounds, while Murat tried to deal with Barrera’s pressure.
The Cuban Light Heavyweight eventually dropped Murat in Round 4 with a right and left hand. Murat survived the round, but only to be stopped in Round 5.
Barrera earned a shot against Sergey Kovalev with his win tonight, while the Armenian-born Murat suffered another setback in his career.
