If you ask Tevin Farmer, Joseph Diaz Jr. should be preparing for a shot at his IBF title in November.

According to a recent Boxing Scene article, Farmer was taken aback with Diaz’s announcement that he’ll be returning to the ring in September.

“I told him I’d fight him next in November,” said Farmer. “So how the f*** you gonna decide you now fighting in September? I don’t get it.”

When Diaz’s promotional team, Golden Boy Promotions, got wind of the remarks that Farmer made, they quickly reached out to Round By Round Boxing to clear the air.

RBRBoxing put out a graphic with a quote from Golden Boy’s president, Eric Gomez, which states that no official offer has been made from Farmer’s side to Golden Boy.

Lou DiBella, Farmer’s promoter whose relationship pre-dates that of Eddie Hearn’s and DAZN‘s relationship with Farmer, says he’s not in a position to offer anyone anything when it comes to fights on DAZN.

“How can I make an offer to them? DAZN is a closed shop,” said DiBella to Boxing Scene. “Eddie (Hearn, who is still part of Team Farmer) has the dates, Golden Boy has the dates. Tevin is a DAZN fighter, Jo Jo Diaz is a DAZN fighter. This shouldn’t be hard to do. But I can’t offer them DAZN money that I don’t have.”

Also, it must be noted that unless you’ve been living under a rock this summer, you’d be fully aware that all Farmer talk has been accompanied with the name Gervonta Davis.

That is the fight fight fans want to see, but it’s becoming clearer each day that Leonard Ellerbe, Floyd Mayweather and Eddie Hearn don’t live in the same galaxy and will not be coming to terms for that clash to take place.

So, a Farmer vs. Diaz fight will have to do. And don’t get me wrong–it’s a good one. It’s just not the one we’ve all been waiting for.
