That didn’t last long. 44 seconds to be exact.

That’s right, Teofimo Lopez (11-0, 9 KOs) took less than a minute to warm up and crack Mason Menard (34-4, 24 KOs) with a right hand that caught the Louisiana veteran’s attention and changed the complexion of the fight–in Round 1.

Lopez followed up his first clean right hand with effective aggression and a serious of big shots that Menard could not handle as he stumbled to the ropes.

Much to the surprise of the Madison Square Garden Theater crowd, Lopez leaned into and landed a fight-ending right to Menard’s chin a few moments later.

After the fight, Lopez–who celebrated with a Heisman pose–stated his intentions for 2019.

“2019, I will become world champion,” said Lopez.

The way he took out Menard tonight at MSG, you have to think he’s ready for big things.
