In front of a hometown crowd at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska, Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs) dominated Dierry Jean (29-2, 20 KOs) for nine rounds before finally stopping him in Round 10 do successfully defend his WBO Super Lightweight title.
The scheduled 12-rounder headlined a Top Rank card and was televised by HBO in the U.S.
Just as he does to begin every fight, Crawford, 28, established his jab from an orthodox stance and began looking for opportunities.
Jean began finding his rhythm as well, but the 33-year-old native of Haiti was suddenly put into shock as Crawford switched to southpaw.
Jean had sparred with southpaws to prepare for this fight and knew full well that it was a habit of Crawford’s to constantly switch and switch back.
What he couldn’t prepare for was the right hook that immediately dropped him before the first round could end. Crawford would then begin backing Jean up and dominating him for the rest of the fight, dropping him again in Rounds 9 and 10 before referee Tony Weeks finally put a stop to the fight.
Jean had his moments and his chances during the latter part of the fight as he landed hard right hands on Crawford’s chin. Though he began to be more responsible with his defense, the right hands didn’t prevent Crawford from pushing forward.

After his stoppage win, Crawford was still furious at Jean and his manager, Camille Estephan, who had promised to knock Crawford out in front of his hometown and to return for a rematch.
“Did you get what you were looking for?,” said Crawford to both Jean and Estephan as he spoke to HBO’s Max Kellerman.
Crawford was also asked about a potential fight with Manny Pacquiao, who will make his return on April 9, 2016 before retiring.
“I’m ready,” said Crawfrod, “Bob, make it happen.”
Whether or not Top Rank’s Bob Arum will make the fight depends on each party’s willingness. If it gets made, who do you think wins?
