By now everyone should be up to date on the Bernard Hopkins vs. Sergey Kovalev fight this Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, NJ.

But the public seems to be vastly overlooking the undercard that is happening that night. This is a shame, because it’s going to be a fantastic fight.

26-year-old American, Sadam Ali (20-0, 12 KOs) will be facing 31-year-old Argentinian, Luis Carlos Abregu (36-1, 29 KOs).

This fight is more than just watching two killer welterweights go at it though, it breaks the cold war between Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank. After Golden Boy sued Top Rank back in 2010, accusing them of racketeering, the two major groups cut off all ties and future bouts between their fighters.

Boxing fans may now rejoice that four years later, the dispute is over and we have a legitimate top-notch fight lined up.

Abregu was previously turned down by Manny Pacquiao, Brandon Rios and Ruslan Provodnikov, which makes him one hell of a scary undercard fighter. With Ali stepping up to the fight, Abregu is looking for his break away from the South American scene and into the American spotlight.

Sadam Ali, on the other hand, has been all over the American spotlight between Junior Olympics to Golden Gloves to his professional career. An undefeated record with 12 knockouts sounds pretty good, but let’s not forget that Abregu was on a 19 fight winning streak before his first loss to Timothy Bradley in 2010.

Carl Moretti, Vice President for Top Rank is setting everyone’s standards high for the bout by announcing, “Can’t miss this battle. This is youth versus experience. There is no chance of it going the distance, whoever wins, wins by knockout.”

However the win comes though, one thing is for certain: whoever wins this undercard won’t be opening for the main show for much longer.
