Los Angeles – The first big boxing show of the year comes to greater Los Angeles as top contenders and 2012 medal-winning Olympian Esquiva Falcao of Brazil are in action on Top Rank’s Solo Boxeo Tecate series live on UniMas at the Robert Lee Activity Center in Hawaiian Gardens on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 15.
In the main event, DIEGO MAGDALENO of Las Vegas will take on Ernie Sanchez of the Philippines in a 10 round lightweight bout. Magdaleno, trained by Joel Diaz, has a record of 24-1, 9 KOs. Sanchez is 14-5-1, 5 KOs.
Diego’s younger brother JESSIE, 17-0, 13 KOS, OF LAS VEGAS will face Roger Castaneda, 20-5-1, 15 KOs of Mexicali in an eight round super bantamweight bout. Jessie is also trained by Joel Diaz. Diego and Jessie are handled by manager Frank Espinoza.
The televised broadcast will open with the big debut of Olympian Esquiva Falcao of Brazil. Falcao, 23, won the silver medal in the middleweight division in the 2012 Olympics in London. He lost his gold medal bid in a 14-13 loss to Japan’s Ryota Murata who is also signed with Top Rank. Here, Falcao will take on Paul Harness, 4-4-1,3 KOs. Falcao has been training for weeks at the Top Rank Gym in Las Vegas. Falcao vs Harness is scheduled for six rounds.
The arena is at 21815 Pioneer Blvd., Hawaiian Gardens, Ca. Tickets are $100, $75, $50. First bell is 5:30 pm.
