On Saturday, July 11, 2015, Keith Thurman defeated Luis Collazo after the Brooklyn veteran was forced to quit in between rounds because of a cut above his eye.

Thurman dominated the majority of the fight with good movement and quick combinations, but he was caught with a sharp left hook to the body that almost dropped him in Round 5. Though he performed well, the body shot will be what everyone remembers and talks about.

Of course, as is usually the case, during the post-fight presser conference things quickly moved to what’s next for the Clearwater, Florid native known as “One Time.”

Thurman called out Floyd Mayweather–as he’s done his last few fights–but it was another fighter who Thurman fired a sharp message to.

“That boy [Errol Spence] don’t want it in the near future. His uncle Floyd who adopted him told him to state that statement, okay? Look if he really wanted to state that, he wouldn’t have stuttered when he said it,” said Thurman.

While Adrien Broner has seemingly fallen out of favor with Mayweather, the pound-for-pound king seems to have taken Spence under his wing as his new “little brother.” After Spence’s victory over Phil Lo Greco in June, Spence called out a few fighters including Thurman.

Thurman obviously does not feel that Spence is on his level, taking a shot at Spence’s level of competition.

“Go ahead and fight Diego Chaves, Luis Collazo or fight any ex-champion that I’ve fought before you say my name out your mouth,” said Thurman.

It would make sense to wait and let this fight–and the fighters–develop a bit more, but this could end up being a really good fight in the future. If Al Haymon does give the fans Thurman vs. Spence, who do you think will win?
