LOS ANGELES (Jan. 26) – Undefeated Brazilian brawler Patrick Teixeira has signed a promotional contract with Golden Boy Promotions. The rising star and WBO Latin Super Welterweight Champion is undefeated with a record of 24 wins and 20 knockouts.  Known to be a heavy hitter in his hometown of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Teixeira is also making a name for himself internationally, having fought and won in his native country of Brazil, Mexico City, Miami, Fl. and Southern California.  He is quickly becoming a feared contender in the hot super welterweight division with the skills and power to conquer the weight class.

“American fans unfamiliar with the hard-hitting power and one-punch knockout potential of Patrick Texiera will soon know his name — and so will his opponents in the Super Welterweight division,” said Oscar De La Hoya, founder and president of Golden Boy Promotions. “We look forward to a long relationship with Patrick that ends with him reaching his full potential of winning a world championship belt.”

“Today is a very special day for my professional career,” said Patrick Teixeira.  “My dream was to sign with Golden Boy Promotions and get to know Oscar De La Hoya. I know that more opportunities will open up as a result of my signing on to the exclusive roster of fighters at Golden Boy Promotions and they will guide my career down the right path in order to give great performances for all my fans.”

“I am very excited to have had the opportunity to work with a young fighter such as Patrick Teixeira and have brought such a great talent to Golden Boy Promotions,” said Edu Peixoto, Teixeira’s manager. “Golden Boy Promotions is the leading boxing promoter in the world and without a doubt will take Patrick to new heights in his career and make him a world champion.”

A professional since 2009, the 24-year old wants to follow in the steps of the Brazilian three time world champion Acelino “Popo” Freitas and write his own story by conquering world titles in his career. Most recently, Teixeira beat Ulises David Lopez for the WBO Latino Super Welterweight title knocking Lopez down on the second round and winning the fight by knockout in the third round. In 2012, the young Brazilian star began to turn heads when he traveled to Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico and defeated Omar Vasquez via eighth round technical knockout. Now, Teixeira is intent on conquering the super welterweight division and becoming a world champion.
