LAS VEGAS (Aug. 2, 2018) – Saul “Neno” Rodriguez has agreed to a multi-year promotional agreement with Top Rank, Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum announced today. Rodriguez fought under the Top Rank banner from 2011-2016 and has returned with an eye on contending in the 130-pound division.
“I’m very excited to be back with Top Rank,” Rodriguez said. “I’m ready to stay busy fighting and training while working towards a world title.”
“We’re very happy to be back with Top Rank,” said Peter Kahn, Rodriguez’s manager. “Top Rank is the leading promotional company in the world and will provide Saul with a platform to accomplish all of his goals as a professional fighter.”
Rodriguez (21-0-1, 15 KOs), a Riverside, California, native turned pro in 2011 following a successful amateur career. The only blemish on his ledger is a 2012 technical draw against Cesar Garcia after a clash of heads caused Garcia’s right eye to swell. Rodriguez went 4-0 in 2014 and 2015 and had a breakthrough performance on Nov. 20, 2015 in Las Vegas, when he knocked out the usually durable Ivan Najera in the opening round. He followed up the Najera win with a seventh-round knockout against former world title challenger Daulis Prescott.
Rodriguez has fought only once since the Prescott win, a 10-round split decision victory against Oscar Bravo on Feb. 24, 2017 in Temecula, California. After a prolonged absence from the ring, the 25-year-old Rodriguez is ready for a fresh start, back where it all began.
Rodriguez’s next bout will be announced soon.
