Super Welterweight contender, Travell “Black Magic” Mazion (17-0), is just like the rest of us; capable of getting bored in what has been an extended lockdown period that has lasted far longer than most have anticipated.

Well, not just like the rest of us.

“When I get bored, I go workout,” Mazion told Round By Round Boxing in a recent phone interview.

While others’ focus may stray in this period of uncertainty, Mazion remains singular minded. His focus is boxing.

“I’m a boxing addict,” said Mazion. “I love boxing, I love the sweet science.”

Mazion was told to be ready for a bout in May prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. He has remained dedicated to the sport and continued his focus on staying in shape by spending time in his coaches gym to ensure he is sharp and ready to return once all is clear.

“I’ll be ready to get right back into the ring,” said Mazion. “We’ll be definitely set for a fight. Whoever they give me, I’m ready.”

Mazion, who won the NABF Super Welterweight title in his last bout has eyes on continuing his ascension in the division–with eyes on fighting for a world title within the next two years.

“I’m training to show the world that I am champion material.”

When asked how he felt he matched up with current Super Welterweights, Mazion said he viewed himself as being on the same level as them.

“They’re champion material, I view myself how I view them,” said Mazion. “I feel I am on that level.”

Mazion wants to continue to move up bit by bit and face the challenges as they come. When the time comes to contest for a world title, he believes he will be ready.

Until then, Mazion, like the rest of us, can’t wait for boxing to return.

When Black Magic gets back in the ring, we can expect one thing.

“Expect some good ol’ boxing lessons.”
