In the co-main event of Roc Nation Sports’ first boxing card, Tureano Johnson (17-1, 12 KOs) overwhelmed Alex Theran (17-2, 10 KOs) before a knee injury put an end to the fight at the end of Round 5.
The fight was held at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York City and was televised on Fox Sports 1 in the U.S.
In Rounds 1, Johnson pushed forward and refused to allow Theran to get comfortable.
Johnson, a 30-year-old native of the Bahamas, landed several right hands throughout the fight.
Theran, a 24-year old Columbia native, fought awkwardly with his hands down throughout the fight, which is what eventually caused him to get dropped in Round 4.
At the end of the following round, the fight was called as Theran claimed he had injured his leg.
Johnson won the vacant WBA international Middleweight title and the WBC Silver Middleweight titles.
