On Saturday, November 28, 2015, Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) scored a shutout decision victory against Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) to win the unified Heavyweight championship on the world.

The 12-round Heavyweight fight headlined an HBO broadcast from the ESPIRIT Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Fury, 27, was a considerable underdog going into the fight, but a combination of his unorthodox style and Klitschko’s inactivity earned him the unanimous decision victory with scores of 115-112, 115-112 and 116-111.

Fury began the fight by moving around the ring with his hands down, mixing jabs to the body with jabs to the head.

Klitschko, who usually fights people much shorter than him, had trouble with Fury’s height and style. Klitschko barely threw a punch in each round, and seemed worried about Fury’s ability to throw long punches from awkward angles.

The 39-year-old native of Ukraine often found himself smothering his own offense by clinching, and only landed a significant punch or two in the later rounds when very far behind on the scorecards.

Fury landed jabs, right hands, and hooks, though he was deducted a point in Round 11 for hitting behind the head.

Klitschko, after having been undefeated since 2004, now faces the end of his decade-long reign, while Fury, a native of the United Kingdom, has had his horizon opened with new possibilities as the new king of the Heavyweight division.

What do you think is next after Fury’s win? Could he be headed for a fight against WBC champion Deontay Wilder?
