LAS VEGAS – Like father, like son. Unbeaten Houston prospect Arturo Marquez, who is the son of former world champion Raul ‘El Diamante’ Marquez, signed a multi-year promotional contract with Top Rank®, the company that is lead by Hall of Fame promoter, Bob Arum.

Marquez (1-0, 1 KO), who campaigns in the welterweight division, impressed in his March 19 professional debut when he scored a second round knockout against Justin Henderson in a bout that took place in front of his hometown fans at the Arena Theatre in Houston, Texas.

“I would like to thank Bob Arum and Top Rank for this opportunity. I’m going to work hard to become a world champion,” said the 19-year old fighter. “Top Rank is a very good promotional company. They have been doing this for 50 years and they know how to move their fighters and make them champions” added Marquez.

Raul Marquez, who became a world champion fighting under the Top Rank banner, said: “For me it is truly an honor that Bob Arum is interested in my son. Arturo had a good performance in his pro debut and he demonstrated that he has what it takes to become a champion. We are going to do all the necessary hard work so one day he can become a world champion. Nineteen years ago I won my first world title with Top Rank and now nineteen years later my son has signed with Top Rank”.

“All of us at Top Rank have known Raul for a long time. To now have the opportunity to promote his son seems like a natural progression,” said Top Rank Vice President Carl Moretti. “Arturo has a ton of ability and marketability and we definitely believe that he will become another world champion from the great state of Texas one day. Just like his dad,” finalized saying Moretti.

Marquez will return to the ring on our May 21st ‘Solo Boxeo Tecate’ event in Laredo, Texas.
