Born in Queens, New York, Dean and Scotty Burrell have been drawn to boxing ever since their father showed them When We Were Kings, the memorable documentary which focuses on the “Rumble in the Jungle” between champion George Foreman and challenger Muhammad Ali.
The New York-born identical twins moved to London at the age of two, but moved back to the states to pursue their dream of being fighters. Under the watchful eye of the legendary Hector Roca–who has trained notable fighters such as Arturo Gatti and Buddy McGirt–the Burrell twins call Gleason’s Boxing Gym in Brooklyn, NY their home.
Watch this edition of “1 Round” as RBRBoxig’s Jeff Charles gives fans an up close and personal look at the lives of Dean and Scott Burrell.
The twins talk about their start in the sport, fighters they admire and what motivates them to continue their journey toward boxing stardom.
