According to Deadline.com, the highly-anticipated Vinny Paz biopic, Bleed for This, starring Miles Teller in the lead role will be released in the fall of this year.
The film is based on the inspirational story of five-time world champion, Vinny Paz, who after a near fatal car crash, which left him not knowing if he’d ever walk again, made one of sports most incredible comebacks.
Open Road Films has set November 4 as the initial, limited release date for the film, with a wide release planned for November 23.
The Ben Younger-directed film made a splash around this time last year when a bidding war broke out after potential buyers were shown a 12-minute promo reel.
The film also stars Aaron Eckhart as Kevin Rooney, the outspoken former trainer of Mike Tyson and also the man who helped get Paz back in the ring after the devastating accident.
Legendary film maker Martin Scorsese is executive producing the film, which is expected to make a strong push for major motion picture awards.
Open Road Films laid out the same release plan for the film Spotlight in 2015. Spotlight went on to win the Oscar for Best Picture.
Hollywood’s love affair with boxing would seem to be at an all-time high with Southpaw, Creed, Hands of Stone (set for release in August) and Bleed for This all getting major theater releases.
