On Friday, June 28, 2019, undefeated Top Rank prospect Saul “Neno” Rodriguez (23-1-1, 17 KOs) took on Miguel Angel Gonzalez on the undercard of the IBF championship bout between Richard Commey vs. Ray Beltran.
In a shocking start, Rodriguez tasted the canvas in Round 1, thanks to a short left hook by Gonzalez.
While Rodriguez gathered himself and made it out of the first round, it wouldn’t be long after that Neno would again hit the canvas courtesy of the same punch.
It was a case of both men throwing left hooks, and while Rodriguez’s missed badly, Gonzalez’s found its mark and ended things at 1:23 of the third.
