WILL KHAN AND BROOK FINALLY AGREE TO FIGHT THIS YEAR?

Whilst we’ve all been distracted and highly excited this year at the prospect of American boxer Floyd Mayweather taking on Filipino Manny Pacquiao for the WBA (Super), WBC, WBO and The Ring Welterweight titles there’s another bout that we are also keen to see happen.

Sheffield born IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook was expecting to take on former two time world champion Amir Khan but it would appear that Khan may be running scared.

Back in March, after his win over Romanian bouter Jo Jo Dan, Kell Brook called out Khan during his post-fight interview. Khan was quick to respond and after some typical out-of-the-ring banter Khan was rattled and then agreed to a “winner takes all” agreement.

Khan himself has very publically stated that he would have no trouble whatsoever beating the 28 year old if they ever met in the ring. But in spite of this verbal agreement many critics and even Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn certainly had their doubts about whether this contest would actually go ahead.

Earlier this month Khan announced that he was actually now set to take on Chris Algieri next in the ring which has of course baffled Brook who has stated that the decision ‘doesn’t make sense.’ So why has Khan decided to tackle Algieri who has nothing really to offer?

Brook is understandably disappointed in the decision who was looking forward to a domestic bout at Wembley which would not only be a career highlight for both boxers but also a highly lucrative one.

So is Khan simply running scared or does he want to get a little more fight practice under his belt before he feels strong enough to take on Brook? The Bolton born 28-year old boxer is already biting on the social networks after being bombarded by questions about whether he still intends to fight him or not.

He confirmed on Twitter that it will happen but only when he thinks it’s right. Khan then continued with more defensive Tweets about his decision and then backed them up with more characteristic boxer-type teasing.

So whilst those looking for some good mobile betting deals for the Mayweather vs Pacquiao rumble at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas next month may also want to wager a few quid on whether or not the Brook vs Khan fight will actually go ahead in 2015.

Do you think Amir Khan and Kell Brook will face each other in 2015?
