Worcester boxing’s train of momentum continues on as Kendrick Ball Jr. and Irvin Gonzalez scored first round TKO victories at the Twin River Casino on a CES event this weekend, September 16, 2016.
Both Ball Jr. and Gonzalez picked up their third professional wins in front of a lively New England crowd. Ball Jr., a Middleweight, put Demetrius Thomas away with two knockdowns in less than three minutes.
Gonzalez, a Featherweight made even quicker work of Mike Heffilfinger, knocking him down twice and out within two minutes. Both fighters look forward to the future as their stars continue to grow.
Also on the card, Miguel Ortiz of Springfield, MA was successful in his pro debut, knocking out Marques Bates in the first round.
Adrian Sosa of Lawrence, MA improved to 2-0 with a unanimous decision over Lamont White.
In the main event, Cameron Burroughs shocked the arena with a sudden, come from behind knockout over Macedonian prospect Fatlum Zhuta.
After five rounds of Zhuta battering Burroughs, Burroughs came out to the sixth and final round with a counter left hook that sent Zhuta face first to the canvas.
Zhuta rose to his feet to immediately fall flat on his back, forcing the referee to stop the fight.
