Peter Quillin vs. Michael Zerafa
Brent Herrin, Staff Writer
Peter Quillin will be back in action Saturday afternoon against sacrificial lamb Michael Zerafa as the feature bout of a Premier Boxing Champions card at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.
This is obviously a tune up match for Quillin in preparation for a potential showdown with Daniel Jacobs at the end of the year. This means that poor Zerafa is being led to the slaughter, and will be lucky to survive the first or second round.

Peter Quillin should win easily here. The bigger question is when will he become more consistently active and fight only at an elite level?

Peter Quillin is highly favored in this bout and I see him making easy work of Michael Zerafa.
Zerafa is a young, 23-year-old Aussie fighting out of his home country for the fight time. I think he will be in over his head as Quillin is in his prime and is very experienced. Qullin needs to get past Zerafa so that a highly anticipated fight can be made with fellow New Yorker Danny Jacobs.
I think Quillin shines in this bout and fights Jacobs next for a real NYC showdown.

In Peter Quillin’s first bout since his surprisingly tight bout with hard hitting Andy Lee, he meets relatively inexperienced Michael Zerafa.
Quillin will dominate and stop his rival in the mid rounds.

A disappointing choice in an opponent for Peter Quillin as he bypasses Danny Jacobs, the regular WBA 160 pound champion who has been advocating a fight between the two. Even though Quillin was ringside for Jacobs’ controversial KO win over Sergio Mora, he insisted that he isn’t overlooking Michael Zerafa and that a fight might be in the works for Jacobs after this fight.
It should imply a lot that in a prediction for a fight between Quillin and Zerafa, I’m talking about Jacobs vs. Quillin. Zerafa is relatively unknown and has only 18 fights under his belt. Another showcase fight for Quillin which basically means except for a stroke of luck in Zerafa’s favor this fight is supposed to remind people why they should want to watch Quillin at all.
Quillin won before the ink dried on the contract.

All Peter Quillin has to do is beat Melbourne product, Michael Zerafa and a matchup against Daniel Jacobs could come to fruition in December. I’ll sign up for that fight.
This one in front of us sucks though.
Regardless, this fight is only important because Quillin needs to win to get to the big fight against Jacobs, one that I think he can win.
