Ranking Lucas Matthysse’s 3 Most Devastating Knockouts

Ahead of his the Lucas Matthysse vs. Viktor Postol clash on October 3, RBRBoxing‘s Brent Herrin takes a look at three of the most devastating knockouts in Matthysse’s career.

2. Lucas Matthysse vs. Lamont Peterson

Lucas Matthysse squared off with Lamont Peterson on May 18, 2013, in a bout that would last less than nine minutes. Peterson managed to keep his opponent at bay during the first round, but Matthysse found his range in the second, and sent Peterson to the canvas with a solid left hook to the forehead.

In the third round, Matthysse landed a thunderous left that flattened Peterson in the middle of the ring.

Peterson barely managed to beat the count, and when the fight resumed, Matthysse charged forward and dropped Peterson again with a combination.

Having seen enough, referee Steve Smoger waved an end to the bout, and with that, Matthysse dealt Peterson the first knockout loss of his career.
